Samsung is rumored to be dropping the Z from its upcoming line of foldable devices. The company first applied it with the release of OG Flip. At the time, Samsung announced that it had decided to introduce a new name for foldable devices to demonstrate that they belong to a category of products that offer a variety of features.
“We chose the letter Z for this series because it conveys the idea of folding intuitively while showing a dynamic and youthful look.”
It’s really not clear why Samsung chose the Z, since the letter V is much more appropriate for the lineup. However, Samsung soon realized this and will now use the symbol > (“more”) to emphasize the unique form factor of its foldable phones. However, it will most likely not be included in the branding.
However, a SnoopyTech insider reports that the company’s new foldable smartphones will not use the letter Z, and will simply be called the Galaxy Fold 4 and Flip 4.
