According to reports, on July 1, some netizens broke the news on social platforms that an employee of Ruo Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Great Wall Motors, died suddenly after 16 days of continuous high-intensity work. Netizens broke the news that if the company started to implement the overtime system from the 7th of last month, the company’s employees will be pushed to 10 o’clock in the evening every day from that date, and the working time will be as long as 14 hours. At the same time, overtime hours cannot be adjusted off, nor can they receive overtime pay. After 16 days of continuous high-intensity work (around 9:00 am on June 22), the employee suddenly fell to the ground on the third floor of Baoding Honeycomb Energy Office Park, and died after being rescued. On June 24, the employee’s family went to the company to ask for compensation. If the company refused to compensate on the grounds that the employee had left the company, it set up a blockade at the north gate of the Hive Park to prevent information from leaking. In addition, it is reported that after the incident, all information of the employee in the company was erased. In this regard, Great Wall Motors responded urgently. In a “Letter on Requesting the Deletion of Untrue Articles” issued by Great Wall Motors, it stated that the articles that broke the news on the social platform were seriously inconsistent with the facts. Regarding the compulsory overtime system, Great Wall Motor stated that it has never been forced to work overtime. All overtime work is carried out spontaneously and arranged by employees according to the situation of the project.
