IT House July 3 news, after rumors that Apple AirPods Pro 2 will be launched later this year, will include health tracking features for the first time. However, a new report from Bloomberg downplays that possibility.

In the latest issue of the Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said the new AirPods Pro are expected to arrive “later this year.” Recent reports from sources such as 52Audio suggest that the AirPods Pro 2 will support lossless audio playback and will have a redesigned headphone case.

IT House understands that Gurman said,He doesn’t expect the new headphones to support heart rate monitoring or body temperature monitoring. Both of these features are “explored” within Apple, but are unlikely to launch this year:

It’s unlikely this year’s AirPods Pro will get heart rate monitoring. As I’ve been reporting recently, Apple is gearing up to launch new AirPods Pro later this year. For users who bought the first-generation AirPods Pro in 2019, the battery of the earphones may be about to die, or the availability is declining.

In the past few months, there have been rumors of this year’s AirPods Pro being able to determine the wearer’s heart rate or body temperature. I’ve been told that neither feature is likely to appear in the 2022 upgrade, although both enhancements have been explored internally at Apple and may come one day.

According to 52Audio’s renders, the AirPods Pro 2 still has a headphone stem, which looks a lot like the AirPods Pro and AirPods 3, and will have a whole bunch of new features:

  • Updated H1 chip:The updated H1 chip is expected to feature an upgraded SiP packaging system and adaptive noise cancellation, including improvements in performance and power consumption.

  • Find My:AirPods Pro 2 is expected to support Find My, allowing users to locate the earphones using the Find My app. It was previously rumored that there would be a speaker on the headphone case, allowing them to produce sound if they were lost.

  • Heart rate detection:Earlier news said that health sensors would appear in the AirPods Pro 2, and 52Audio claimed that the headset would be able to detect heart rate from the ear.

  • temperature check:The heart rate sensor may also support temperature detection, but 52Audio says it can’t confirm that.

  • Audio improvements:The AirPods Pro 2 will have similar audio improvements to the AirPods 3, with a “combination of a custom high-amplitude driver unit and a high-dynamic-range amplifier.” Adaptive equalization, spatial audio with dynamic head tracking and audio sharing, and more will also be included.

  • USB-C:The AirPods Pro 2 will use a USB-C interface instead of Lightning, which is also in line with the changing trend of Apple products.

  • Hearing aid features:52Audio claims the AirPods Pro 2 will work as a hearing aid. The earphones can “collect sound through the headphone box and transmit it to the earphones for sound enhancement and playback”, with the aim of helping people with hearing loss to better hear sounds in their environment. The website believes that the lanyard hole previously described as the side of the AirPods Pro 2 is actually some kind of hearing aid opening.
