Dirk Hilgenberg, head of Volkswagen’s software unit Cariad, told Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung this week that the unit would be streamlined to speed up software development, Reuters reported.
Cariad is a central part of Volkswagen’s plan to catch up with Tesla in the coming years, but has repeatedly struggled, causing important projects to fall behind schedule and delayed launches of Porsche and Audi models.
Dirk Hilgenberg reportedly said,For the future E3 2.0 unified platform, Cariad will play the role of “driver”, the Volkswagen brand will play the role of “passenger”, and Audi and Porsche will also be involved.
Dirk Hilgenberg also added that equity will also be used more efficiently.
