Unlike the current retail WoW, there is no artificial time gating in the classic trilogy, which only allows flying after the expansion has been running for about a year. Here you level up, collect gold and then simply buy the riding skill. In today’s blog, Blizzard explains how to learn Cold Weather Flight in Northrend.
Once you reach the snow-covered landscape of Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic, your mounts will take you to your desired destinations, but only on the ground. With Cold Weather Flight, you’ll soon be able to face the biting cold in the skies over Northrend, so wrap up warm and get ready.
GET YOUR LICENSE
To learn Cold-Weather Flight, you must be level 77 and master Advanced Riding or Flight Form (Druid).
When you’re ready, you can visit the following trainers to learn Cold Weather Flight:
- Hira Snow Dawn, which you can find on Krasus’ Landing in Dalaran. Hira also offers you the Tome of Cold Weather Flight, which allows your secondary characters to learn Cold Weather Flight from level 68.
- Roxi Ram Rocket at Camp K3 in the Storm Peaks.
- Pilot Vic at the River Navel in the Sholazar Basin.
REPUTATION CANNOT DAMAGE
Of course, you can learn the Riding Skills and Riding Skills from the Cold Weather Flight trainers, but with reputation, they come at a cost Maigra sharp feather in the Valiance Keep (Alliance) or Wind Rider Samamba fewer in Warsong Hold (Horde) in Borean Tundra.

Need a cab but haven’t mastered Cold Weather Flight yet? Do not worry. The “Honest” Max at Camp K3 in the Storm Peaks has rental mounts for everyone level 77 and up. But be warned: these flying mounts are a bit sluggish and stubborn. They only fly at 60% inside the Storm Peaks, Sholazar Basin, and Icecrown.
READING BOOSTS YOUR SUB-CHARACTERS
After your first character reaches level 80 and learns Cold Weather Flight, you can acquire the Cold Weather Flight Tome for your secondary characters from Hira Snowdawn. Any minor character you wish to level in Northrend will need a Tome of Cold Weather Flight in order for them to take flight at level 68 or higher.
