What is described as the world’s first electric timber truck rolls between the timber terminal in Gimonäs in Umeå to the paper mill in Obbola at the Ume River’s outlet.

SCA is running the project together with Scania and the research institute Skogforsk. An individual vehicle must be able to reduce emissions by 55 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, according to the forest group.

– This is on a small scale in terms of the length of the transports, but it is still an important step, says Hans Djurberg, head of sustainability at SCA, to SVT Nyheter Västerbotten.
