According to rumors from Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, an alpha test for Diablo 4 is already circulating under strict lockdown. He also provides information about the first impressions of the testers.

A few weeks ago, fans of the long-awaited Blizzard title got into an uproar after a supposed beta version of Diablo 4 was available for selection in the Battle.net launcher. However, this was declared a little later by Blizzard as an internal test.

Alpha testers reportedly excited about Diablo 4

According to Schreier, who casually shared the information via Twitter, the alpha test is an early version available only to Blizzard’s family and close friends. This is nothing special for the developer, as they have been doing this for a number of years with titles such as World of Warcraft before entering the beta phase.

According to Schreier, only a “handful of people” are currently playing an early build of Diablo 4, but they are positively impressed by the game. Although the alpha testers are under strict non-disclosure agreements, he still hears mostly positive voices, he announced in his Twitter post.

No microtransactions found – fans still skeptical

Meanwhile, the comments below the post are filled with excited fans discussing how Blizzard will handle microtransactions in Diablo 4. According to Schreier, no in-game purchases are currently possible, but he explicitly points out that Blizzard wants to limit itself to cosmetic items anyway. Above all, the strong criticism of Diablo Immortal and its pay-to-win principle should have been enough for the developers anyway.

It remains to be seen when Diablo 4 will finally get into our hell-hating hands as part of an official alpha or beta phase. However, an official support page from Blizzard gives hope that the tests will start soon, after all it refers to the registration for these. Since the last Xbox Showcase, at least concrete information about the duration of the campaign and the level cap of Diablo 4 has been known.
