With Meet Your Maker, the makers of Dead by Daylight – as previously announced – officially presented a completely new game as part of a showcase today. We’ll tell you what to expect here!
Behavior Interactive has announced its latest project, Meet Your Maker. In contrast to the long-running horror game Dead by Daylight, the new title will be a building and raiding game played from a first-person perspective. Each level is designed and built by players for players.
The gameplay revolves around the creation and infiltration of these self-contained levels called outposts. You’ll switch roles as you design intricate, maze-like outposts filled with traps and sentries, then gear up for methodical, fast-paced combat to ambush others’ creations.
The setting falls back on a dying world in which you take on the role of the custodian. This is a minion of the Chimera: a living experiment created as a last resort to save life on Earth. As a result, you engage in a tactical battle for the planet’s most coveted resource and the key to the Chimera’s evolution: pure genetic material.
In order to obtain this, you must build and fortify the mentioned outposts; at the same time, you can infiltrate and outwit other players doing the same thing to collect more materials. With all content thus being built by the community, fan-made content will be the driving force behind the new title.
The construction phase of the game is therefore about setting up an outpost that attracts unauthorized players and then tricks and kills them. You can use a large selection of blocks, traps and guards, which can be freely combined. The AI recording system allows to record custom patrol paths for guards and surprise raiders.
Meanwhile, raiding enemy outposts will require wits and reflexes to survive and get inside. Of course, escaping life again is one of your tasks in order to secure the genetic material. Overall, Behavior wants to ensure a highly social gaming experience through the structure of the game as well as a high level of replayability.
The release is planned for the coming year 2023, but a specific date or even specific platforms have not yet been mentioned. A first closed test phase is scheduled to begin on August 23, for which you can register on the official website.
