Freyja, born four months premature and weighing only 690 grams, spent her first few weeks in an incubator. “My little fighter,” says her mother Giedre Jukneviciute, looking back on a tough few months as Freyja lay surrounded by tubes and cables on the Essen University Hospital paediatric ward. Her mother had a difficult pregnancy, then came the sudden birth.
