The 2022 vintage of the Apple Watch could conceal some unexpected surprises (finally not too much in view of the rumors). In addition to the traditional Series 8, we could thus see the second generation of the Apple Watch SE as well as a whole new “hardened” range for the Benoît Brisefer.

A new indiscretion fueled by regulars of the genre now evokes a third screen size: in addition to the 1.691 inch screen of the 41 mm model and the 1.901 inch panel of the 45 mm version, a third screen size is announced by Ross Young: 1.99 inches, which would give a case of around 50 mm.

DSCC’s screen analyst has given this new size on Twitter today, following up on a hallway noise he peddled last October (at the time he was just talking about three screen sizes). Jeff Pu, another fairly well-informed analyst, has added a ladle in a footnote: Luxshare is said to be the sole supplier of a “high-end” 2-inch Apple Watch model (this may be a rounding off).

1.99 inches, that seems little compared to the screen of the 45 mm box (+0.089, or 5%), nevertheless on such a small product any gain remains interesting to increase the display surface. Is this a third screen size for the Series 8? We can also speculate that this 2-inch panel would be reserved for the “rugged” Apple Watch, in which case perhaps this will allow Apple to slip a larger battery into this model.
