The launch of Battlefield 2042 has already caused a lot of ink to flow since its release in November 2021, and if EA had decided not to offer a single-player campaign, it seems that this choice is not final for the franchise since a new campaign is in development.
A new single-player Battlefield campaign led by the Halo creator’s studio
There’s a lot of interesting news coming to us today about the future of Battlefield. Electronic Arts is officially hiring for a new Battlefield experience at its new Seattle studio.
Battlefield Seattle is focused on creating rich and exciting stories with memorable characters and powerful experiences in the Battlefield universe. We are building a new studio in the Seattle area staffed by leaders and talent with extensive AAA game development experience. As we bring together our diverse team, everyone who has a voice in creating great games together, we are looking for a healthy mix of veterans and young enthusiasts eager to make a difference.
In the recruitment announcement, Electronic Arts is looking for a Design Director whose role will be to “lead the design team and the conceptual vision for a new Battlefield campaign”. So it’s official, a new single-player Battlefield campaign is in preparation, to the delight of fans of the franchise.
Your job is to take the core tenets of the Battlefield franchise and ensure they’re woven through all the layers of a masterfully crafted single-player campaign. You will build the design team and studio culture and create an amazing campaign from concept to release. You are also responsible for leading the product design iteration based on feedback from your peers, business partners, and team members while adhering to the core vision.
Last May, EA announced the creation of a studio in the Seattle area to create an open-world adventure game directed by Kevin Stephens (Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor). A few months later, the company also announced the creation of another studio in Seattle with Marcus Lehto (Halo’s father) as Game Director. It was then a question of an FPS, but difficult to say today if it is the same project as this new Battlefield campaign.
