A few weeks ago, a Russian security services company discovered several malicious apps on the Google Play Store. Google would have already removed most of the applications in question. On the other hand, no less than three of them would still be available on the online store.
According to the antivirus vendor Dr Web, the malicious apps have been downloaded nearly 10 million times. These would be presented as useful tools for smartphones (wallpaper changer, virtual keyboards, photo editing, etc.). They offer the proposed features, but also hide a malicious program. Some of them involve intrusive adsothers steal accounts on networks social media, and others secretly subscribe users to paid mobile services.
Google has already removed most of these apps from the Play Store. However, users who have already installed them should remove them from their mobile device. Here is the list of affected applications:
