Remedy is taking more time on its upcoming multiplayer project, Vanguard, and has pushed the game back.

According to the studio, the game is still in a “proof of concept” phase.

It still takes

In this phase, Vanguard, which has only had this code name so far, will remain even longer, so the “significant increase” in the development team is also being postponed to 2023.

“This shifts revenue from 2022 to 2023, so we expect 2022 sales to be at prior-year levels and a significant decrease in operating income from 2021,” said Remedy’s CEO Tero Virtala.

Many details are not yet known about Vanguard. It will be based on Unreal Engine 4 and will be a live service multiplayer game.

“As Remedy continues to redefine and invest in traditional AAA games with titles like the award-winning Control and CrossfireX, it will be the mission of the Vanguard team to challenge convention and bring a new breed of social multiplayer experiences to Remedy create,” says the project on Remedy’s website.
