A new report from financial newspaper Nikkei seems to indicate that Nintendo won’t be releasing any new hardware this fiscal year.
This information was relayed by Takashi Mochizuki. He clarified that given the wording of the article, it is not clear if this announcement is an official confirmation from Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, who was being interviewed, or if this information comes from Nikkei’s own report. Despite some of the recent rumors of new hardware being released, this announcement makes sense considering the industry’s current supply issues. Even taking into account that Nintendo expects the component shortage to improve soon, it’s understandable that it will wait for the situation to stabilize before releasing new hardware.
