Changing your Apple ID email address is a simple process. And you can switch from third-party email like Gmail or Yahoo to Apple domains (@me.com, @icloud.com, etc.) and vice versa.
How to change your Apple ID
Change Apple ID online
Go to appleid.apple.com. Sign in and click Apple ID at the top. Enter the new email address you would like to use. Click “Change Apple ID” at the bottom.
Here’s what the process looks like:
Edit on iPhone, iPad or Mac
Open the Preferences app (System Preferences/System Preferences on Mac). Choose your name. Click Name, Phone Numbers, Email. Select “Edit” in the top right corner. Now click “Add an email address or phone number”. Select Add Email Address. Enter your new Apple ID email address, click Next in the top right corner. Check your email for confirmation and next steps.
