With a financing campaign via Kickstarter, the makers of Frogwares want to finance the development of the remake of “Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened”. The Ukrainian studio was able to achieve the financing goal in a very short time.
As the developers of Frogwares announced, the studio is currently working on a remake of the adventure game Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, originally released in 2007.
In order to be able to act creatively independently and not to be dependent on the support of a publisher or investor, Frogwares decided to rely on financing via Kickstarter for the realization of the “Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened” remake. As part of the corresponding campaign, revenue of almost 72,000 US dollars should be generated in just under a month.
A goal that those responsible at Frogwares were able to crack within a very short time. As of this Friday noon, more than 1,650 backers have already raised over $95,000, ensuring that the funding goal was met 29 days before the closing of the Kickstarter campaign could be reached.
An adventure classic celebrates its comeback
According to official information, the remake of “Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened” is based on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4 and, on the one hand, gets completely new assets, with which the graphics of the adventure should be brought up to date. In addition, the developers want to overhaul the gameplay and expand the story with elements such as additional side quests.
Among other things, the story should show us how Sherlock Holmes and Watson deepened their cooperation. At the same time, new details on the background story of the various characters are promised. Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is in development for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
