The second wave of MK8 DX – Additional circuits pass is now available for download, adding to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe eight new races divided into two cups. For more details, visit our special news. If the eight races each have their own charm, the event of this second wave is undoubtedly the presence of a race presented as 100% unprecedented: the City sorbet. Indeed, all the others are covers of famous circuits from old opuses or races from mobile games, Mario Kart TOUR.

However, do not believe that this new circuit was developed for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Admittedly, this is the first DLC race to feature karts in “antigravity” mode, the Mario Kart gimmick of the Wii U / Switch but it is in fact a sham. In reality, there is no passage that puts our heads upside down or makes us roll on the walls as during the antigravity passages of Mario Kart 8. sorbet city is devoid of it. It is simply a classic race that asks us to climb to the top of an ice cream cup. The fact that the karts are in antigravity mode is incidental. As for its original side, there again it is a trompe-l’oeil. Within a few days, Nintendo would not have been able to present the Cité Sorbet as an “unpublished” race. Indeed, we have just learned that from next weekthe City Sorbet will enter Mario Kart Tour. To tell the truth, it is not a surprise. Nintendo had taken care to specify as soon as it was announced, that the “unpublished” circuit would land shortly in Mario Kart TOUR but we didn’t think it would be so soon. On arrival, if the City Sorbet is not a “real” new circuit developed for Mario Kart 8 Deluxewe can think that it is the first circuit conceived at the same time for Mario Kart TOUR and for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. We can also expect that the next circuits of Mario Kart TOUR come out on Switch (after or before…) On arrival, despite its generic side, the Cité Sorbet, is a refreshing circuit typical of Mario Kart TOUR which offers three different tours (since it’s about getting to the top) with a lot of nice passages and surprises. To see what it looks like, find a first glimpse of Cité Sorbet thanks to our video below.
