Sucker Punch has bad news for fans of previous PlayStation studio games. Because both Sly Cooper and inFamous are unlikely to be returning anytime soon.
Neither Sly nor inFamous in development
On its official site, Sucker Punch says the studio has “no plans to return to inFamous or Sly Cooper at this time.” (Source: sucker Punch) The main reason is that the development team has to focus completely on the current project, probably Ghost of Tsushima 2. In addition, one writes that currently no other studio is working on games based on the stalled brands.
But nothing is set in stone: Because Sucker Punch also explains that both series of games are very important to the developer and they are very important may dedicate again in the distant future. A sequel, a remake or a reboot is therefore not out of the question.
It’s still a bitter pill for fans to swallow. After all, the last inFamous was released in 2014, the last Sly game even earlier in 2013. Unlike inFamous: Second Son, Sly Cooper: Second Son was not developed by Sucker Punch, but by Sanzaru Games.
Now what about the rumors about Sly 5?
In recent months there have been increasing rumors that a new Sly game is in the works and again to be created at another studio.
Although this does not fit Sucker Punch’s current statement, it is by no means a small rumour. Several industry insiders think they know about the existence of Sly 5. AccountNGT talked about a new Sly game on Twitter, but deleted the tweet a short time later. But also insiders like Jeff Grubb and Nick Baker confirmed the development on Sly 5.
