DSCC head Ross Young tweeted that Apple will increase the display size of the Apple Watch Series 8 by 5% compared to the previous generation of smartwatches.
Back in October 2021, Yang suggested that the Apple Watch Series 8 could come in three sizes. Now the head of DSCC claims that the “big” Apple Watch will get a 1.99-inch screen.
For comparison, the current generation Apple Watch Series 7 comes in two sizes – 41mm with a 1.691-inch display and 45mm with a 1.901-inch screen. The new watch size will offer an additional 0.089 inches of space (+5%) to the display.
The same information was confirmed by Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu. Luxshare will be the sole supplier of the 2-inch Apple Watch this year, he said.
It is likely that the slightly larger display size will be due to the redesign of the Apple Watch Series 8 – according to rumors, the watch may get flat edges, as in modern iPhones and iPads.
Apple is expected to introduce a new smart watch at one of the fall 2022 presentations.
