The European Space Agency (ESA) has unveiled on its Twitter account a magnificent photo of the largest canyon in the Solar System.

The European Space Agency’s Mars Express space probe captured a snapshot of Valles Marineris. This is a vast system of canyons on the planet Mars. This geological structure is twenty times wider than the Grand Canyon located in Arizona, but also ten times longer and seven times deeper than that on Earth.

Even so, the Valles Marineris crater appears small in the photograph taken from orbit. As the agency indicates, this crater was formed by the drift of tectonic plates. The shot offers a unique landscape with blue and brown hues.

To go further, discover this huge crater on Mars that looks like a huge tree stump.
