Earlier this year there were reports that Microsoft would be launching a family subscription for Xbox Game Pass and those rumors seem to have been true. Yesterday, Microsoft began testing a so-called “family plan” for Xbox users in Ireland and Colombia.

With the family subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the user gets the opportunity to invite four additional Xbox users who can take part in what the subscription offers. There is no requirement that those who are invited must be part of their own household, but they must live in the same country as the user who signed up for the subscription.

The family plan for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will cost around €22 a month in Ireland. It can be compared to a traditional subscription for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs 13 euros a month. Whether Microsoft plans to start testing family subscriptions for Xbox in other markets in the future, there is so far no information.

Xbox Game Pass is rumored to launch family subscriptions

Up to five players must be able to play on the same subscription

Windows Central has been in contact with sources who say Microsoft is in the early stages of launching a family subscription for its gaming service Xbox Game Pass. A family subscription for Xbox Game Pass would, according to Windows Central’s sources, mean that up to five players could create profiles on the same subscription, much like you can do today with, for example, Netflix and Spotify subscriptions. What the subscription “Xbox Game Pass Family Plan” could cost, there is so far no information about. However, a possible family subscription for Xbox Game Pass is not something that Microsoft wants to confirm yet. A spokesperson for the company tells Engadget: “We are always looking for ways to improve the Game Pass experience and add more value for members, which includes regularly testing and refining features based on community feedback. However, we have nothing to announce at this time .”
