After the teasing, Asus formalizes its series ROG Phone 6 which offers a solid platform for mobile gaming thanks to a very solid technical sheet and exceptional characteristics.
Two smartphones are announced: Asus ROG Phone 6 and Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro sharing some elements like the 6.78-inch FHD + AMOLED screen with 165 Hz refresh, 720 Hz touch sampling and brightness up to 1200 nits, not to mention the dedicated PixelWorks processor i6.
They are also both equipped with an SoC Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 from Qualcomm with up to 16 GB RAM LPDDR5 for ROG Phone 6 and up to 18 GB for the Pro version, and up to 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The SoC has a powerful cooling system which can be supplemented by the accessory AeroActive Cooler 6 with fan system to attach to the back of the smartphone.
Both smartphones carry a battery of 6000mAh (as dual battery) with quick charge 65W and have the same photo block with Sony IM766 50 megapixel main sensor + 13 megapixel ultra wide angle + 5 megapixel macro sensor, as well as a 12 megapixel module on the front for selfies.
Everything for gaming
There are two USB-C ports, one classic at the lower edge and the other on one of the edges so as not to interfere with the game in charge in landscape mode. The Asus ROG Phone 6 family is compatible with 5G, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC.
On the back, on the ROG Phone 6 Pro, you’ll find a small customizable OLED display, while the standard version has an RGB strip with the ROG logo.
On the edge, AirTrigger ultrasonic sensors allow many manipulations (scrolling, short / long press …) and even control of the gyroscope.
Under Android 12smartphones use overlays Zen UI and ROG UI with an update program promising two Android updates and two years of security patches.
The prices of the Asus ROG Phone 6 range vary according to the memory configuration:
- Asus ROG Phone 6 in 12 / 256 GB: 1029 €
- Asus ROG Phone 6 in 16 / 512 GB: 1149 €
- Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro in 18 / 512 GB: 1329 €
Availability will be effective during month of July for the ROG Phone 6 variants and in August for the Pro model. They can already be pre-ordered on the Asus website with the famous AeroActive Cooler 6 as a gift.
