Eidos Montreal could again deal with a title in the Deus Ex series in the future and thus establish a counterpoint to the Tomb Raider franchise, which is currently the main focus of Square Enix. Cyberpunk 2077 has lost sympathy points in the community due to its premature launch with many bugs, performance problems on the old game consoles and many annoying little things. Since Embracer Square Enix bought up Western game companies, the focus has been on Crystal Dynamics and the successful Tomb Raider franchise. Eidos Montreal, which was most recently responsible for Guardians of the Galaxy, also needs a new project and with another part of Guardians of the Galaxy not up for debate, it is unclear what the studio will work on. According to Jeff Grubb’s appearance on The Game Mess Mornings Show, the studio may be looking back at the franchise it’s best known for, Deus Ex.

While still early in development, Embracer seems open to a return of Adam Jensen, the hero of past Deus Ex installments, and Eidos Montreal itself is euphoric and excited to do “what Cyberpunk 2077 couldn’t do .” What is to be understood by this, however, remains open so far. Fans of the series shouldn’t get too excited either, because Jason Schreier hasn’t denied a new Deus Ex title, but has made it clear that the title is still in the earliest stages of development and could take a long time. until it becomes a passable game that you can publish.
