Bungie developers recently cut back on communication with the Destiny 2 community due to harassment. As is now being reported, however, the attack on the team was even more terrifying than previously known.

Bungie is currently driving communications with the Destiny 2 communityto protect its developers. These have been repeatedly exposed to threats and harassment in recent times. This led to a series of lawsuits that Bungie is using to expose those responsible and hold them accountable.

The Canadian news site The Record has now revealed new details about the harassment. Accordingly, the developers were not only harassed and insulted, some of them even received death threats.

Bungie wants to find new ways to communicate with players after threats

In July, Bungie had Filed a lawsuit against a cheater, who, among others, harassed one of Destiny 2’s community managers, Dylan “dmg 04” Gafner. The user had also threatened to set fire to the studio’s headquarters. Shortly thereafter, Bungie announced that the developers would initially behave more calmly because of the threats. This is not intended as a punishment for the players. Rather, they want to protect employees and think about new ways of communicating with users.

Because, as a new report by the Canadian news site The Record revealed, the threat to developers was probably more serious than previously thought. This threat began after the studio tweeted a post celebrating its collaboration with African-American streamer Uhmaayyze.

According to the report, after the tweet was posted, several Bungie employees received death threats, as well as voice messages and texts on their personal phones, the numbers of which were not public. They used TextNow, an anonymous texting and calling app. In addition, a voice message was left on the personal line of the employee who posted the tweet.

The caller used racist swear words and demanded that Destiny 2 receive racist DLC. In addition, the caller stated that he belonged to a right-wing social network. These messages were also relayed to the employee’s spouse, who is also employed by Bungie. Later, someone using the same phone number ordered a pizza to the couple’s non-public address after leaving them a voice message saying “enjoy your pizza.”
