James Cameron gave an interview to the magazine Empire. In it, he spoke a little about the upcoming film “Avatar: The Way of Water” and about his attitude to audience criticism.

Cameron hinted that the second “Avatar” will run no less than the first – about three hours. He predicted that audiences would criticize the film for being too long. At the same time, he recalled that in recent years, viewers have changed their approach to watching video products, and the younger generation can watch the whole season of the series in one go, easily spending almost the whole day on it.

“I won’t listen to whining about a movie being three hours long from people who watch eight-hour shows. I myself could write in the review “an unbearably long three-hour film”, but do not talk nonsense! I have watched my kids watch several hour long episodes of the series in a row. Our society needs a paradigm shift: going to the toilet during a session is the norm. I’m not worried about this. Of course, there will be trolls who will criticize without even remembering the plot of the first film and the names of the main characters, but when they watch the sequel, they will immediately fill up the bakers, I’m sure, ”said James Cameron.

The first Avatar was released in 2009 and became one of the highest-grossing films in the world, grossing over $2.8 billion, more than ten times its budget. Avatar: The Way of the Water is due for release in December 2022. Whether it will be shown in Russian cinemas is unknown.
