The Quest 2 benefits from the unfailing support of Meta, which probably sells it without making any margins, or even at a loss (the device is sold for €349). But as noted by Jitesh Ubrani, analyst at IDC, this strategy will only last for a while, especially since the company has reduced the airfoil of its hardware projects due to the crisis which is shaking the technology industry.
This is also the opinion of Ming-Chi Kuo who recently evoked the slowdown in Meta’s investment in hardware, and in particular in VR hardware for economic reasons.
