The Apple Watch Series 8 will be announced at the iPhone 14 event in September. In the meantime, a Twitter user and “time traveler from Earth 616” @VNchocoTaco aka ShimpApplePro shared what they hear about the lineup. Details include Apple Watch Series 8 colors, production times, and more.
What do we know
We already know a lot of what to expect from the Series 8 family based on reports from Bloomberg. The differences between the Series 7 and Series 8 will be minimal, with the more expensive “Pro” version stealing the show. Our friend Shrimp has nothing to say about this model, but they repeat earlier reports, which is remarkable because VNchocoTaco cites the same source behind the leaked label for the Series 7 last year.
Apple Watch series 8 colors
According to a time traveler source from Earth 616, the Apple Watch Series 8 will look like this:
41mm and 45mm as in Series 7 design. Aluminum in starlight, midnight, red and silver. Stainless steel in silver, graphite and gold. This version does not have a titanium model.
If this list of colors is exhaustive, it would mean ditching green and blue with the reintroduction of silver aluminum. This seems reasonable given that Starlight coexists with silver in the MacBook Air lineup, and Starlight is a warm mix of silver and gold. Last year, Series 7 buyers were open about the lack of a more neutral color.
Release Schedule
According to their source, this month’s mass production is on schedule. This means the standard Series 8 will likely be released a couple of weeks after Apple’s event in early September.
However, ShrimpApplePro did not share information from its source about the much brighter Apple Watch coming this year. Bloomberg has widely reported on a rugged version of the Series 8 with a larger display and a titanium case. In any case, we hope that this version also follows the usual release schedule without production delays.
More
Today’s tidbits include a mention of a “stronger adhesive” for the Series 8 watch case compared to the Series 7. This echoes the increased durability as mentioned earlier. Finally, we can expect the new watch face to be introduced alongside the Series 8, as usual, says ShimpApplePro.
As for the deletion of the Titanium Edition model from the standard lineup, that is to be expected as the premium material is sold differently this year.
