Intel’s upcoming Core i9-13900K should achieve more than 2,200 points in Geekbench 5 with a boost clock of 5.8 GHz. Compared to a Ryzen 9 5950X, the lead in the multi-core test is over 50 percent, and Intel’s new chip is also said to be more than 30 percent faster than AMD’s current flagship in the single-core. Intel’s Raptor Lake processors should be able to beat their predecessors primarily due to the higher clock and the possible higher power consumption. There are already the first benchmarks with an Intel Core i9-13900K, the upcoming flagship of the lineup, which works with a maximum clock of up to 5.52 GHz and is overclocked to up to 5.79 GHz in the boost clock. In the test, the Core i9 sat on an Asrock Z690 mainboard and was paired with DDR5 RAM.

The system achieved a single-core score of 2,212 points in Geekbench 5 and 25,497 points in the multi-core test. The result has been validated and thus the Core i9-13900K would be 32 percent faster in single-core and 54 percent faster in multi-core than a stock AMD Ryzen 9 5950X. In the test, however, it is not yet known whether it is the processor’s standard clock or whether manual overclocking was added. Even more interesting would be how much power is consumed for these results, as that could determine efficiency.
The Raptor Lake chips are scheduled to be unveiled on September 28th during the Intel Innovations event and will officially go on sale on October 17th. At least three K-SKUs are expected at launch. The Core i9-13900K as the flagship, the Core i7-13700K and the Core i5-13600K. The new Intel chips are expected to compete against AMD’s Zen 4 processors in the form of the Ryzen 9 7950X and 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X this year, which are expected to be launched on September 15th.
