By Richard Horgan Los Angeles (Knewz) — Paychex’s monthly report on small businesses draws from payroll data of around 350,000 clients with fewer than 50 employees. From that massive sample come a myriad of economic indicators. In the U.S. South, hourly earnings increased 5.44 percent compared to the same time a year ago. For the Northeast, the growth was slighly lower, at 4.54 percent. For some portions of the survey, Paychex tracks only the 20 states with the largest populations.
