The Government instructs the Mediation Institute to broaden its survey of how income differences affect women’s and men’s finances.
The authority will, among other things, analyze income over time, and how these differ between groups in society. In the new assignment, the Mediation Institute will also examine the return on capital and business income, as part of a gender equality initiative.
“Reducing the wage gap is a key gender issue, but it is not enough. We must also make visible the income gap, which affects women’s opportunities to save, buy a home and the future pension. We therefore give a broader assignment to the Mediation Institute where the income differences between men and women are also analyzed.” , says Minister of Labor and Gender Equality Eva Nordmark (S) in a press release.
