Three Genshin Impact cheat developers have been jailed and fined.
According to the Chinese financial website finance.sina, the three developers were arrested in 2021.
The penalty is so high
Only now is there a verdict in this case. The man responsible was sentenced to four years in prison and a fine of $50,000.
The cheat developers are said to have sold a total of more than 40,000 access keys for their software and thus earned around $300,000.
The main accomplice was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison and a $50 fine. Another accomplice has to pay $10,000 and go to prison for one year and six months.
In any case, HoYoverse seems to be serious about the fight against cheaters, as the judgments that have now been passed speak for. Given that there are no PvP modes in Genshin Impact, part of the community is still surprised by the amount of the penalty.
Others argue that an infinite amount of primordial rock could be considered a major theft. Especially when tens of thousands of users use such a cheat.
To what extent the judgment is a deterrent example for others remains to be seen.
