Turkey on Wednesday said it had killed 20 members of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), as a new Turkish military operation in Syria appears to be drawing near. The Turkish defence ministry issued a statement saying 20 “terrorists” belonging to the “PKK/YPG” organisation were killed in northern Syria. The YPG is a Kurdish militia group which is the main component of the SDF, a coalition of Arab and Kurdish militias operating in notheastern Syria.
