There are some bold clones in the Google Play Store! However, the advertising for the mobile game Rise of the Kings is particularly bold, after all the game sells itself as a solid Witcher alternative. We’ll tell you what’s really behind the game!
Rise of the Kings: No mobile game has ever been so bold
It’s no secret that in many cases mobile game advertising has little or nothing to do with the actual product. Evil tongues could in this context of malicious deception speak. Nevertheless, the responsible developers are hardly ever taken action and so there are countless copies of famous games in the Google Play Store. Including bold clones of Minecraft, GTA or Fall Guys.
Now there is an advertisement for the mobile game on Reddit Rise of the Kings popped up that hard to beat in boldness is. On the ROK screenshot, as the game is abbreviated, you see a character who bears a striking resemblance to Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist from the hugely popular Witcher games.
Maybe it’s his lost twin brother Rivera’s Harold, as one Reddit user sarcastically notes.
But joking aside, the advert for ROK is clearly about a clean copy to a popular artwork from The Witcher 3. The pose, the font and the general coloring were carried over almost identically. Even The Witcher 3’s logo, the three red dashes, made it 1:1 on the Rise of the Kings ad.
By the way, here you can see the original artwork:
Fans make fun of the Wish-Witcher
Go to Reddit the relevant post anyway viral and causes all sorts of mockery from the community. The Wish variant of Geralt is called, among other things, Beralt von Bolivia, Jerry von Nivea or simply The Bitcher. Another user is looking forward to meeting his lady of hearts Hennifer or his faithful horse Coach.
The whole incident only gets particularly silly when you look at Rise of the Kings in the Google Play Store. Because “Oh, miracle!”, the mobile game has nothing in common with the Witcher games at all. In fact, ROK is a strategy game. Although this offers a fantasy scenario, apart from that nothing reminds of the open-world role-playing games from CD Projekt Red.
