In May of this year, the Swedish Embracer Group surprised with the Acquisition of several studios and IPs from Square Enix. Eidos Montreal, Square Enix Montreal, and Crystal Dynamics all changed hands for around $300 million, and powerful brands like Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and Thief went with them. Rumors about a new Deus Ex have been around ever since. So now, too, after industry insider Jeff Grubb made an appearance at Game Mess Monings had on Twitch.

Is a new Deus Ex being worked on?

The hope for a new Deus Ex was fueled shortly after the sale of Eidos Montreal. Unfortunately, this died after a short time, the company spoke in a statement not from the revival of the IP.

Now Jeff Grubb still wants information about the suspected revival. According to him, with a new Deus Ex “do what Cyberpunk 2077 failed to do”, presumably this refers to an even more convincing simulation. Grubb continued: “We’ll see if that happens. It’s still too early. Who knows what will happen?”. Nevertheless, it is clear to him that under the current Square Enix there would have been no possibility, not even remotely “to think about it”.
