To know the level of stress of a sports fan, just watch him react live in front of the TV or in the stadium when his favorite team is on the ground! But the Manchester City club wants to know more and is launching a connected scarf.

The football club Manchester City launches, with Cisco, an amazing new connected product: it is indeed a scarf intended for the supporters. It incorporates an EmotiBit module at the neck level which includes several elements: an electrodermal activity sensor (EDA), an accelerometer, a temperature sensor and a photoplethysmography sensor (PPG). Everything you could find in a connected watch or bracelet, in short.

For Manchester City, this scarf is technology that will propel a more inclusive future. But how ? With all these sensors, the scarf will measure ” how fans are impacted by actions on the pitch »: joy, nervousness, tension, excitement, stress, etc. The EmotiBit records body signals, including heart rate, body temperature, emotional rush.

It’s all still a bit hazy, but the ambition for this project is ” far beyond data “, assures the club and its partner Cisco. ” We are excited about what the scarf will show us initially, and look forward to giving the fans involved a unique and memorable experience. “Says Manchester City.

Additional details will be published soon, and we are indeed waiting to know the price of this scarf, if it can go through the machine (!), what the fans will be able to get out of it personally, on data protection as well. It is in any case a great marketing operation for the club, which will surely interest others.
