Until the end of the year, the Russian Federation may cancel the requirement for mandatory pre-installation of domestic software on various gadgets. As a result, fines will also be cancelled. This decision was made by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of the Russian Federation, as the publication tells. Vedomosti.
The project has already been submitted to the government, having been agreed with “interested federal executive bodies,” the Vedomosti source said. As a result of these actions, appropriate changes will be made to Article 14.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (“Violation of other consumer rights”).
It is reported that the deadline for the execution of instructions under the document is set for October 31, 2022. It is designed to “support the economy in the face of sanctions.”
With the whitewashing of parallel imports, it became problematic to comply with the law on pre-installed domestic software. The fact is that manufacturers will not do anything on smartphones and other devices not manufactured for sale in the territory of the Russian Federation, and only sellers and distributors will have to be fined for this.
