It looks like iOS 15.5 has been causing some issues since its release. After numerous complaints about the Apple Books app, the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system is now affecting iPad users. More specifically, a number of users are having trouble charging their iPad mini 6 after the update.

As noted by several users on the Apple Support Community Forums, affected users are no longer able to charge their iPad mini 6 after updating to iPadOS 15.5. According to these reports, the iPad battery will not charge regardless of the power adapter or cable used. Some users have even tried repairing the iPad software to fix the problem, but that didn’t seem to work.

However, while this may seem like a hardware issue, the reasons for this are related to the software. In an internal memo sent to authorized service providers (via MacRumors), Apple stated that it is aware that users cannot recharge their iPad mini 6 after installing iPadOS 15.5.

Unfortunately, Apple also says in a memo that replacing the internal battery or even the iPad with a new one won’t fix the problem, which basically confirms that the charging issue is a software bug. At this point, it’s not clear if the iPadOS 15.6 beta, which is currently available to developers and users registered with the Apple Beta Software Issue, fixes iPad mini 6 charging issues.

The company is advising Apple retailers and service providers to ask affected users to reset their iPad mini as a temporary fix.

How to Install iPadOS 15.6 Beta on iPad mini 6

As mentioned earlier, we don’t know for sure if the iPadOS 15.6 beta will fix this issue. However, if you’re having trouble charging your iPad mini 6, it might be worth trying installing the beta software on your iPad.

Here’s how you can install the iPadOS 15.6 beta:

Go to beta.apple.com on your device or iPad. Sign in with your Apple ID. On the main web page, click Get Started. Tap the “iPadOS” tab and look for the “Register device” link. Follow the instructions to download and install a profile that activates the iPadOS 15.6 beta update for your device.

After the official public release of iPadOS 15.6, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and tap “iOS Beta Software Profile” to delete the profile and no longer receive iOS beta updates. Hopefully the update will fix the iPad mini charging issues.
