Apple has not abandoned the idea of imposing its technologies and devices in the connected home. The manufacturer has developed one of the major home automation platforms on the market with HomeKit of course, and it is part of the group responsible for working on the common Matter standard. But it’s true that in terms of products, we hear more often about Amazon – which has just offered the services of the creator of Roomba vacuum cleaners – or even Google.
In the secrecy of its labs, Apple is however working on at least two products for the home. The first is a box combining a speaker with Apple TV functions and a FaceTime camera. An “all-in-one” for the connected living room, in a way.

The other product would be an enclosure incorporating an iPad-style touch screen and a robotic arm, with functions that remain to be determined (will it do the dishes on its own?). According to Mark Gurman of Bloombergone of these two devices could be launched between the end of next year and the beginning of 2024, he says in his newsletter of Sunday.
Closer to home, the snooper ‘confirms’ the return of a big HomePod early next year after that range was discontinued in March 2021. It’s said to run an S8 chip, the same as in the Apple Watch Series 8, and it would have a multi-touch screen on top. Apple would also prepare a refresh not “ super impressive for HomePod mini.
