The Blues went down a familiar path in the first round of the NHL draft, selecting a forward – Jimmy Snuggerud of the United States National Team Development Program (NTDP) at No. 23 overall Thursday in Montreal. The Blues haven’t taken a defenseman in the opening round since Jordan Schmaltz in 2012. Snuggerud, who turned 18 on June 1, scored 24 goals with 39 assists in 59 games for the NTDP squad this past season.
