Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is back with another study of the upcoming Mixed Reality headset, which will likely be announced in the coming months. The device could be announced as early as January 2023, Kuo said.

The analyst is doubling down on another report he released in June. At that time, Kuo says the market has its highest hopes for “an AR/MR headset among new Apple products in 2023.”

However, this investment theme has not received a clear market consensus due to doubts about innovative user experience and low shipments of less than 1.5 million units in 2023. Apple may announce an AR/MR headset as early as January 2023. This media event is expected. to alleviate investor concerns about innovative user experience and poor delivery in 2023, and boost their confidence in the headset’s prospects.

Kuo believes the Apple Mixed Reality Headset will be “the next revolutionary consumer electronics product after the iPhone.”

While previous reports have mentioned that the Mixed Reality headset will be expensive, Ming-Chi Kuo says analysts expect the product to cost between $2,000 and $2,500. The higher price will affect shipping, he writes.

The announcement of the Mixed Reality headset will focus on three main points: use cases, software/service/development ecosystem, and hardware specification details. Kuo says that if Apple can convince investors that this product can see rapid growth in the next few years, they will be less worried about low supply in 2023.

While Apple hasn’t even announced the product, an analyst has already revealed that the company is preparing a more affordable version by early 2025. In addition to this, Apple is also preparing its AR-only headset. This device is the focus of Apple’s attention but is expected to be announced around 2024. Below you can find more details on the difference between these two rumored products.
