Actually, one would think that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection is as far as it goes, but 343 Industries apparently has other plans and fans of the series will surely love them.

Well, that’s good news for real Halo fans. 343 Industries is apparently working to recycle early versions of Halo and Halo 2 and publish them in Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Specifically named is the Earth City demo of Halo 2, which was shown at E3 2003 but never made it into the final game because the engine on which the demo was based was trashed at the time.

And not only that, the team at 343 apparently wants to rework and make playable other pre-release versions of various Halo titles. The end goal is to get this content to work in MCC and at least to be able to play it through as part of the presentation script.

It is still unclear by when this could happen – the developers are currently not even sure whether these versions can even work on the consoles. Accordingly, the revised content could be at least partially PC-exclusive.

Early content from the original Halo, including stuff only shown in the 1999 MacWorld demo, appears to be on the list as well. 343 is restoring some lost weapons and vehicles back to playable form and intends to make available to modders some of the content that they don’t have the resources to restore.
