France and probably a good part of Europe should see the arrival of the world number two in electric cars. The Chinese giant BYD has indeed announced its participation in the Paris Motor Show.
The European market is one of the most active in the world for electric cars. After all, it will be forbidden to sell new thermal vehicles there from 2035, so all manufacturers are preparing with some feverishness for this unprecedented transition in the industry. And that’s whetting the appetites of manufacturers all over the world.
World number two
It is in this context that BYD (“Build Your Dreams”) announced its participation in the Paris Motor Show, which will be held from October 17 to 23. This is not insignificant: even if major brands have decided to stay away from the event (including Toyota, Audi or even BMW), the Chinese group is keen to present itself to the French and European public who will be flocking to Porte de Versailles this fall for admire the latest automotive innovations.
BYD is mainly established in China, which allows it to rise to second place in the ranking of the most important manufacturers of electric cars, behind Tesla but ahead of Volkswagen. The company makes no secret of it: its intention is to nibble away at market share on the old continent. Currently, it is present in Norway through a network of charging stations and a 100% electric vehicle, the Tang.
This SUV could also be the figurehead of BYD for the rest of Europe. But the manufacturer has a few other models in the catalog that could correspond to the European market, such as the Han sedan which provides a range of 600 kilometers. Or the compact EA1, which corresponds well to an urban segment without sacrificing anything on autonomy, since it aims for a range of 1,000 km!
