IT House July 9 news, according to Xinhua News Agency, one of Canada’s largest telecommunications operators, Rogers Telecom, suffered a major network failure on the morning of the 8th local time, causing millions of domestic users to be unable to access the Internet and make calls.

The outages started early Friday morning and continued into the evening. Rogers said the restoration of mobile and internet services began late Friday. The company did not provide a timeline for all customers to return to service, but said its technical team was “working hard to get everyone back online as quickly as possible.”

This is Rogers’ second major outage in recent years, with the company’s wireless and wired networks experiencing similar incidents in April 2021.

IT House learned that the Canadian telecommunications industry is dominated by three major operators, Rogers, Bell, and Tellus, which together account for 87% of the user market. Rogers is the largest wireless network service provider with approximately 11.3 million subscribers nationwide. Two other major telecom operators, Bell and Tellus, said their networks were operating normally, but users had problems calling or texting Rogers’ customers.
