Apple started pre-ordering the MacBook Air M2 this Friday. If you’re planning on buying this refurbished Mac, you’re out of luck if you want it delivered to you next Friday, July 15th.

Delivery of all models can take at least two weeks. For now, the MacBook Air Midnight M2 with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD is the most popular option – or at least the hardest to get – with an estimated 4 to 5 week delivery time.

Other Midnight options, for example, will take around 2-3 weeks to ship. For those who don’t need the new M2 MacBook Air option, the trusty Space Gray base model will still ship in 1-2 weeks. The Starlight model is also available with 8GB RAM and 1TB SSD with the same delivery times.

The new MacBook Air features the most significant redesign of the MacBook Air lineup in a decade, with the same flat design, larger display and thinner bezels. Like the 2021 MacBook Pro, the front camera is now inside the display cutout. The M2 chip delivers enhanced CPU and GPU performance, about 20% faster than the already fast M1 MacBook Air.

Apple says complex workloads like editing video in Final Cut or applying filters in Photoshop are 20-40% faster than the M1 MacBook Air and an order of magnitude faster for customers upgrading from older Intel-based Airs . And all that power doesn’t have to come at the expense of battery life; Apple says customers should be able to play video continuously for up to 18 hours on a single charge.

For those who didn’t receive the new M2 MacBook Air yesterday, there’s also a chance to get it in person when orders finally start next Friday, July 15th.
