Apple remains the second largest smartphone maker in the world, second only to South Korean giant Samsung. This is evidenced by a new report by BanklessTimes analysts.

BanklessTimes estimates that Apple sold a total of 56 million smartphones in the first quarter of 2022, placing it in second place with 18% of the market. As for Samsung, its smartphone sales over the same period amounted to 73 million, and the market share was 23.4%.

Also, a BanklessTimes report shows that year-on-year sales of the iPhone grew by 2.2%. Apple was the only smartphone maker in the market to see an increase in smartphone sales last quarter, while other vendors recorded a drop in shipments. In general, the entire smartphone market for the reporting period decreased by 8.9% compared to last year.
