The legal battle between Google and Sonos looks set to continue. Now Google is once again suing Sonos as it believes that Sonos is infringing on a number of patents that Google has regarding smart speakers and voice control of these.
The dispute between the two companies began in early 2020 when Sonos sued Google for patent infringement in technology used in Google’s smart speakers. This was then answered by Google with a counterclaim. Then Sonos sued Google once again for further patent infringement. At the beginning of the year, Sonos won one of the patent disputes it had with Google, which meant that Google will probably have to redo certain functions in its smart screens and speakers.
Google’s new lawsuit against Sonos appears to be a way to prevent Google from losing further disputes against Sonos.
