From 2025, Russia may ban the sale of mobile devices where there is no USB Type-C. The Union of Consumers sent a proposal to the Ministry of Industry and Trade with the introduction of a single connector for the charger.

In short, all phones should target one type of plug, and buyers will be able to choose between a device bundled with a charger or no charger at all. The department, in turn, noted that USB Type-C is seen as the most convenient as a universal standard for consumer electronics.

Recall that earlier the European Parliament obliged sellers from 2024 to sell mobile devices exclusively with a single connector for a USB Type-C charger. It is expected that it will eliminate additional costs and reduce the burden on the environment.

However, manufacturers of mobile and portable devices believe that this approach has its own risks. For example, new bans will narrow the number of goods that could be sold on the domestic market, which is already declining without these rules due to import restrictions and the lack of production of many such devices domestically, said Anton Guskov, representative of the RATEK Association of Electronics and Household Appliance Manufacturers and retail chains. .
