Earlier this year, Sega and Paramount Pictures officially announced the feature film Sonic the Hedgehog 3. In a short message, those responsible for what is now the third film adaptation of Sonic’s adventures gave a specific date.

After the commercial success of the first two films, the official announcement of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” this year should have surprised few.

Those responsible at Sega and Paramount Pictures are still holding back with specific details about the plot, but have now given the third movie about the adventures of Sonic a specific date. As announced, “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” will find its way into cinemas on December 20, 2024.

So far, this date only applies to the US market, but in Europe “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” should certainly be seen in cinemas in the near future.

Live-action series starring Knuckles starts in 2023

In addition to the feature film “Sonic the Hegdehog 3”, a live-action series with Knuckles is in the works, which will be launched in the course of the coming year. Director Jeff Fowler said: “It’s still in the early stages. One thing I knew after we finished the film: people are going to love this character. Right now the focus is just getting people excited and getting them to watch the sequel.”

Commenting on Knuckles, the director added, “He’s such a wonderful character that there are so many different ways to approach the show that fans could really get excited about. […] But for now, I’m just looking forward to getting people to see the sequel.”
