It looks like Microsoft’s plans are in the June 2022 SDK, at least that’s what Theverge.com says which confirms that the Redmond company is indeed testing the possibility of freeing up memory on the least powerful new generation console.

Several hundred megabytes would be freed up to leave room for developers to use their imagination.

Thus it is not directly new hardware that would be made available, no new revisions of the console or a new version, but rather an internal evolution of the architecture of the console which would free up RAM.

This could therefore allow to have a little more FPS, but not to revolutionize the console either, this kind of evolution makes it possible to display a little more images per second.

In the SDK we also learn that Microsoft fixed a problem where graphic virtual addresses were allocated much slower than non-graphic virtual addresses. This again makes it possible to increase memory management without having negative effects on performance.

Currently is able to run games in 1440p up to 120 FPS, but many titles remain restricted to 1080p, this is also the consequence of the use of only 8 GB usable out of the 10 GB available because 2 are reserved for the system, on the Xbox Series X, the problem is less sensitive thanks to its 16 GB of RAM.
