“GTA 5” continues to sell very well. In the course of the latest annual report, the publisher Take-Two went into sales and stated that 170 million sales have almost been reached.

Originally released in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360, GTA 5 is now available for three generations of consoles. The title remains Take-Two’s biggest success and is also the fastest entertainment release to reach $1 billion in retail sales.

GTA 6 should set creative standards

The continued success of “GTA 5” is probably one of the main reasons why Take-Two and Rockstar Games are taking their time with the successor “GTA 6”. At least a few months ago it was confirmed that the new game is in the works.

According to Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick, development is “in full swing.” In addition be Rockstar Games determined, “to once again set creative standards for the series, our industry and for the entire entertainment industry”. Rumor has it that the new Rockstar game will be set in a “fictionalized version” of Miami.

It is still unclear when “GTA 6” will be launched. It was speculated that the launch could take place in the 2024 financial year. But 2025 was also discussed. Take-Two and Rockstar Games have so far not been able to bring themselves to limit the publication period.
